Going live with your auction
Transcript
Great! So you’ve put together your auction and you are about to go share it with your bidders. Here are a few things to check before you do:
- Proof - Check for typos and test any links you have put in your lots or auction description. Remember, that including lots of links will help your SEO rankings, but they have to be properly linked.
- Starting prices - You don’t want to discourage bidders with starting bids that are too high, as sometimes you only get one chance to capture their interest. Set your opening bids low enough to be appealing and inviting, but also make sure you’re comfortable with the possibility of the lot selling at that price if only one bid comes in.
- Auction end time - Ensure you schedule your auction to end at a time when bidders are most likely to be online and engaged, avoid late-night finishes that risk losing participation.
- Images - It is amazing the difference images can make. To elevate your lots and make your auction feel really professional, we always advise unifying the images on the main auction page. Whether this means cropping them all in the same way or presenting them on the same background.
- URL - If you are using the pro-plan make sure you are happy with your auction URL, terms & conditions and rules (such as the bidding extension, registration) as for obvious reasons these can’t be changed once people have started bidding.
And then if you are happy, you are good to go, and the next step is promoting the auction.
