PayPal post sale explained

When the auction ends, the Sales tab within your auction dashboard will begin to populate with ‘pending’ orders. The status of these orders will change to ‘Paid’ once the winning bidders complete checkout.

Once the order is paid, the full order details will populate when you click on the order record, including any applicable buyers fees.

When winning bidders click on the checkout link they  activate the PayPal payment gateway. But if they do not complete the transaction (e.g. they exit the checkout page) , these will still show as a pending order. However, they will have PayPal assigned as the ‘payment type’.

If the winning bidder attempts payment and it does not go through i.e. it is declined by their bank or they enter the wrong details, then it would show as a ‘failed’ payment on your dashboard.

We recommend that you follow up with bidders to complete their payments if they have a failed payment status or if you see that PayPal is assigned as the payment type but it is still in the pending state.
