How do I create a single lot auction?

Single Lot Auction Setup  

Once you have selected the Single Lot template, you will then enter the Auction Creator to set up your auction details:

  • Logo: Upload a logo with an optional URL link.

  • Menu Links: Add up to 7 links, plus 4 optional dropdown items.

  • Lead Image: Upload a JPEG/PNG (max 5 MB).

  • Title & Description: Write a clear, compelling auction title and description.

  • Currency: Select from 10 options (e.g., USD, EUR, GBP).

Auction Dates:

  • Set start and end dates (includes countdown clock).

  • Choose from 14 time zones (this can not be changed once bids begin being accepted).

Auction Rules (Pro plan):

  • All Lots: All close together; extensions apply to all.

  • Cascade: Close sequentially; extensions roll forward.

  • Individual Lots: Close independently with individual extensions.

Registration Options (Starter & Pro plans):

  • Email only

  • Card validation

  • Manual approval

Buyer’s Fee: This is an optional fee that can be set either as a fixed amount per lot or as a percentage of the hammer price. It is added to the final price after the auction closes.

Terms & Conditions/FAQs: Customise the default terms and conditions and the FAQs (these are locked in once auction is live).

Privacy Settings:

  • Show/hide results or bid history (with bidder flags).

  • Make the auction private with a password.

Click Save to confirm your auction details and create your auction. You can edit these details anytime before publishing.

Adding Your Lot

  • Navigate to the 'Auctions' tab in your Indy account

  • Select your auction draft from the list.

  • Open the 'Lots' tab.

  • Click 'Create Lot' to get started.

  • Upload up to 5 images and select a lead image (centre of carousel).

  • Title 1 (required): e.g., maker's name, "Pablo Picasso"

  • Title 2 (optional): e.g., item name, "The Weeping Woman"

  • Add a detailed description starting with catalogue details (e.g., dimensions)

  • Set a starting price 

  • Add an estimated price range (optional) (See: Estimates and Reserves)

  • Include a shipping quote or contact info for shipping inquiries

  • Add up to 3 tags (e.g., "ceramics")

  • Click Save to create your lot.

  • Publish to preview the auction as bidders will see it. You can unpublish to make changes, and lot details stay editable even when live.
