Can I withdraw or cancel my bid?

Understand the rules surrounding withdrawing or cancelling bids that you have already placed.

Bids placed on Indy.auction are binding. Once a bid is submitted, it is treated as a genuine commitment to purchase if you are the winning bidder.

This policy exists to protect artists, sellers, and other bidders, and to ensure auctions remain fair and credible. Bids should only be placed when you are confident and ready to proceed.

When a bid will not be cancelled

Indy.auction does not support casual, speculative, or “test” bidding. Requests to cancel a bid because it was placed in error, placed too early, or used to check interest will not be approved.

Placing a bid “by mistake” is not, on its own, a valid reason for cancellation.

When a cancellation may be considered

In limited circumstances, a bid cancellation request may be reviewed. This is not guaranteed and is assessed case by case. Examples include:

  • A clear and genuine technical issue at the time the bid was placed.

  • Exceptional circumstances that materially affect the bidder’s ability to complete the purchase.

Changes of mind, buyer’s remorse, or pricing reconsiderations are not grounds for cancelling a bid.

How to request a bid cancellation

If you believe your situation meets the criteria above, contact Indy.auction support as soon as possible.

Email support@indy.auction and include:

  • Your full name and account email address

  • The auction and lot title

  • The bid amount and time placed

  • A clear explanation of why you are requesting cancellation

Submitting a request does not mean the bid will be removed. If a bid is cancelled, it cannot be reinstated.

Before you place a bid

Before bidding, check the lot details carefully and ensure you understand the auction terms, including pricing, and buyer’s premiums. Please note that prices follow US/UK number formatting, where commas do not indicate decimal points. This means that $25,000 means twenty-five thousand dollars.

Once a bid is placed, you are expected to honour it.
